SOCOTRA – A Most Unusual Island
Socotra is a land of surreal landscapes and timeless traditions, an island
seemingly plucked from the pages of a fantasy novel.
In 2024, I found myself among the rare few who journeyed to this remote
Yemeni archipelago, arriving aboard a relief plane from Abu Dhabi.
What unfolded was an adventure through otherworldly terrains, ancient
cultures, and moments of unexpected beauty—from the hauntingly beautiful Dragons’ Blood Trees to village celebrations under desert stars.
This is the story of my journey, where nature, history, and humanity
intertwined in ways I never could have imagined.
