Exhausted after summiting our fourth major ridge of the Hajhir Mountain range in three days, I was delighted to hear the roar of a vintage Russian helicopter that was coming to shuttle us eastward over several dry wadis to the tiny village of Eerk.
In Eerk, we were invited into one of the tiny homes, built over 200 years ago, which was cool and beautifully detailed inside. From there, we hiked 12 kilometers down from a 1,200-meter ridge to the Dihamri Marine Reserve.
