Socotran Sandgrouse are related to pigeons and shorebirds and have short legs, multiple wings, fat bodies and gray or brown plumage. They are seed eaters, but also eat insects and greenery. Socotran Sandgrouse are gregarious and feed in flocks of up to 100 birds. They have cryptic plumage that helps them blend into their environment.
Socotran Sandgrouse have special feathers on their belly that absorb and retain water. Now that is a good trick!
