Swimming Clouds in Kaleidoscopic Ponds

Diving into the deep Socotran interior we saw the clouds swimming and swirling in the multi coloured cool crystal clear fresh water ponds of the Hajhir Mountains.
While Socotra is a sparsely populated island that is part of Yemen it is actually situated just off the coast of Somalia in the Gulf of Aden. It is a protected UNESCO world heritage site and for a good reason in that the landscapes I saw here are unlike any other place in the world. We spent day four trekking with camels in the Wadi Dirhur Canyon, and skinny dipping in the multi coloured ponds of the wadi.
