First Impressions

On the coat tails of an English adventurer and scientist working on the same project as I in Saudi Arabia, we boarded a supply relief plane in Abu Dhabi bound for the archipelago of Socotra. Looking out the wee window in the empennage of the plane,
I saw multiple live volcanoes, and the hairs on my neck bristled with anticipation.
